How do I split a song into four stems?

SurStudio's Stem Splitter produces estimated vocals, drums, bass and other instruments. A short preview lets you check the grouping before processing a long recording. Four stems give more control over a backing track than a simple vocals-and-instrumental split.

Try this workflow

  1. Upload audio and choose a preview start.
  2. Listen to each stem with Solo, then create the full split.
  3. Download individual WAV files or the ZIP of all four stems.

What to check before you finish

The first run downloads about 79 MB of models. Guitar and piano stay in Other; this version does not generate separate guitar or piano stems. Check quieter sections for bleed before using an output in a new mix.

A practical example

For a practice set, preview a chorus, solo all four parts one at a time, then return every volume to its default. This separates the quality check from the remix decision. Once the assignment seems usable, process the full track and label the folder clearly so preview files do not enter the full project by mistake.

More questions

Can I download only the drums?

Yes. Once the split is ready, download the Drums WAV instead of downloading every stem.

Does a preview download contain the whole song?

No. It contains the selected short preview. Run full-track processing when you need complete stems for a backing track or a longer project.
