Get your audio workflow moving
Start with the stage that needs attention. Keep your original recording and try a short test before a full session.
A file will not open
- Open SurStudio directly in Safari, Chrome or another current browser. If you arrived inside a social app, open the page in your main browser.
- Choose a local file that is fully downloaded to the device. An iCloud placeholder may need downloading in Files first.
- Try a short MP3 or WAV you know plays elsewhere. A filename extension alone does not prove that the browser supports the audio codec.
Separation takes a long time
The first run can include a model download before audio separation begins. Check the progress message to distinguish the download from processing. Start with Fast AI and a ten-second preview, keep the tab open and close other memory-heavy tabs. A phone can take longer than a desktop on the same recording.
If progress stops, use Cancel processing before starting another job. Try a shorter excerpt and check that there is enough free device memory and storage.
The instrumental still contains singing
Listen to a busy chorus and an exposed phrase. Compare methods on the same section and check the instruments as well as the remaining voice. Reverb, layered harmonies and overlapping sounds can remain in either output.
The microphone is silent or delayed
Allow microphone access in the browser, select the intended input and make a short recording. Use wired headphones when possible. If your audio interface already provides direct monitoring, hearing the browser monitor too can produce a doubled voice.
A download is missing or will not play
Keep the results page open and check the browser’s Downloads list and your device’s Files app. Wait for the download to finish, then play it outside SurStudio. For a failed stem ZIP, try the individual WAV downloads before rerunning separation.
