Vocal remover file limits, model downloads and browser memory

Three different numbers matter: the size of your uploaded audio file, the length of the decoded recording and the AI model download. A model is reusable program data. Downloading a roughly 40 MB Fast AI model does not give you only 40 MB of audio processing or consume a paid credit allowance.

Try this workflow

1. Check the audio tool limits: up to 250 MB and 30 minutes per file, with additional device-memory checks. These are limits, not a guarantee that every device can process the largest file.
2. Begin with a 10-second preview. Fast AI downloads about 40 MB, Quality AI about 166 MB and four-stem separation about 79 MB on first use.
3. Save completed results to your device. The browser may retain model files, but clearing browser data or storage pressure can cause another download later.

What to check before you finish

A compressed source expands for editing. For example, ten minutes of stereo audio at 44,100 samples per second uses about 202 MiB for one pair of 32-bit floating-point sample arrays. Separation also needs models, working buffers and output arrays, so total memory is higher. A small MP3 can therefore need much more memory than its file size suggests.

A practical example

If the screen shows a model download finishing and then says Separating vocals, the internet transfer is no longer the main task. The device is calculating the output. Upgrading internet alone will not necessarily speed this stage. Try Fast AI or a shorter recording and keep the active tab open.

Can I process another song after downloading the model?

Yes. A model is not used up by a song. SurStudio does not charge processing credits, although file limits and device resources still apply.

Does reducing MP3 bitrate make a long song easy to process?

It reduces the encoded file size but not the duration of decoded audio. A shorter excerpt is a more direct way to reduce processing and memory requirements.
