Whole-track transposition is different from pitch correction

A pitch changer moves the complete recording up or down. Automatic vocal pitch correction follows a vocal performance and adjusts notes toward a target. SurStudio’s Pitch & Speed tool performs whole-track transposition; it does not offer automatic correction of individual singing notes.

Use Pitch & Speed when a backing track needs a different register or practice tempo. If a performance contains individual wrong notes, record another take or use a dedicated pitch-correction editor. Changing the entire track cannot selectively repair one note while leaving the rest of the performance unchanged.

1. Decide whether you need to transpose a whole backing track or correct individual sung notes.
2. Use Pitch & Speed for a whole-track key or tempo change.
3. For automatic vocal correction, use a tool designed for note correction; SurStudio does not currently offer that feature.

What to check before you finish

Searches such as online auto tuner, free online autotune and auto tune key can point to different needs. A key finder estimates a song's tonal centre. A tuner measures the pitch of a live note. A pitch changer transposes a recording. Automatic correction detects sung notes and changes them according to its correction settings.

If a singer is consistently comfortable in another register, transposing the backing track may solve the practical problem. If individual vocal notes are inaccurate, transposing the whole mix shifts the instruments too and does not fix those notes relative to the accompaniment. Keep these workflows separate when choosing an editor.

A practical example

You sing a song comfortably two semitones lower, but a few notes in your recording are still sharp. Lowering the backing track helps choose your range; it does not correct those specific notes. Re-record the difficult phrase or use dedicated pitch-correction software on an isolated vocal recording.
